An Oopsy I’d Think

30 Apr

While lauding all the thank you messages he receives, Mayor Tim has put email messages in his Mayoral Report.  Within one is the mayor’s cell phone number.  Given they only promote ICC’s phone number on their website as a way of getting hold of him I don’t think it was planned.

Tim’s mayoral report claims

Surely no one can claim that this Council doesn’t make a genuine effort to encourage consultation.  We are now broadcasting on ICC TV through You Tube.  We also have a consultation caravan that will attend  major events.  Regardless of these initiatives we still get criticised on a regular basis for not consulting enough.
I think Mayor Tim is missing the vital part of this.  The consultation isn’t the biggest problem with ICC (public excluded is one of them) but the common theme with most people complaining is that ICC won’t listen anyway.  Our mayor only needs to look at item 7 in Tuesday’s agenda.  Once the consultation was done they fiddled things to suit what they wanted…and now we own half a wind farm.
I better get the kids fed but maybe we should look at this in a little more detail?

Why would you put emails dated 2014 into a May 2015 report? seems odd.

And the Mayor definitely misses the point on Consultation, it is not just a word but Actions and actually putting decent information, (Clear and accurate) out to the public.

You’re spot on item 7 clearly shows that certain members are only to willing to flip both the Ratepayers and other elected members the proverbial “bird” and do as they wish.

Aren’t most things about ICC or Tim ‘odd’?

Isnt the measure more about how the people think than what they are told when it comes to the consultation process. And consulting is not sitting behind a camera talking, its also about listening. All we see presently is rushed decisions and kneejerk actions to what happened on a daily basis.
The Scottish Hall is the latest example of something being done without consideration to all the people who worked hard behind the scenes to save it from demolition. The council is now running it exactly as they did before the many thousands spent on lawyers and we will be back to normal in no time. Apparently the Times building is going to be demolished to make way for car parking opposite the council tower. Who has been consulted?
We are slipping towards a Shadbolt form of communism where he thinks he should have total say on all things and people should bow as he passes on the street

Got something to say?
