Rumours Running Amok

13 Jan

Facebook has the usual good and bad comments (thankfully there is a delete feature – some people need to think before typing) regarding the closure of Land’s End.  I’ve had a few phone calls with rumours that are going around.  The only one of interest to me is the one regarding ICC paying out the owners $50K (or $60K).  Sadly it is no shock that ICC have failed to complete previous consents.  If it is true that there is over $100K’s worth of consents required to operate, who would want to take that on?  None of it shows Invercargill or Bluff as a good place to do business.

And Mayor Tim’s previous secretary ‘suing’ (personal grievance maybe?) him is not good PR either.  I look forward to tomorrow’s Southland Times.

Nothing in the paper suggesting an ICC payout rumour is for real. I’ll keep waiting on a Mayor Tim and the secretary story then.

I would imagine any payout to Tim’s PA would be generous enough to make sure the facts never need to see the light of day. Great to have an deep pockets and even greater when they are filled by ever suffering ratepayers

If it is for real that there is a grievance, I am curious why he goes through PA’s…what is doing…? Is he a Benny Hill or a Gordon Ramsey type?

would be interesting to know but one thing for sure they dont hang around for long and there is a reason. Once fair enough, twice gets you wondering but after several times yep definitely looks like hands on knees. They better get him a male, preferably big and ugly and perhaps some work may get done

So is it the ICC who haven’t completed the work or the owners? ICC can’t really sign it off if they haven’t finished it can they?

I’m not saying it’s ICC’s fault and it does seem to be that the new owners have jumped in head first. I have heard that some attempts to organise a mediator haven’t come to fruition unfortunately. It’s more the PR aspects and the future of the property. If the costs are that high to get it up to standard it may be difficult for it to reopen. Just a pity in general.

Another question, where is the Facebook comments? I can’t find a Lands End page for Bluff.

Their page I’m told has been shut down. I avoid Facebook where possible. Do you follow the Bluffy’s FB page? As I said, lucky there is a delete feature…

Whats the latest? Went to look at the Bluffy’s page and its been turned into a closed group?

There was a lot of discussion about the use of the page. Some felt it should only be happy, happy, joy, joy. Another page called bluffIEs has been set up. I see Joel has changed the setting from Open to Closed. When you point at Closed Group it says anyone can read but only members can post on it. I thought that was always the case. I’m a member so can see it. Are you a member and can you see it if you are not? I wouldn’t want it to be closed off, Facebook for a community current and past should be public. How would you decide whether to join if you can’t see the page? I think everyone can still see though according to the closed group explanation though
