Any Outcome?

What ever happened to this ‘project’?

Wayne Hutchinson, Enterprise Manager Rural Development of Venture Southland, proudly points out the areas of tree and shrub crops at Venture Southland’s cold-climate crops facility.

Everyone should take the time to call in and have a look at what was the Crops Centre. Whats left of it has been turned into a community garden but pretty sad to see the waste. Next door in the council nursery which is the absolute opposite and makes the case for forming partnerships rather than re inventing the wheel. Use the knowledge and expertise that is there and the benefits flow from day one. Wayne was not one to listen though and once the money was gone so was he.

Any gear was sold off to ICC nursery according to liquidation documents. So I will assume it achieved nothing then…

No they had a couple of miracle crops. The miracle was they were grown but never used. I think the biggie was Meadow Foam which was going to give us enough fuel to run our cars. Still comes up every year but no one has cropped it. Still think we could do a Southern Eden Project but run it with volunteers. Start it simple like growing your own food. Perhaps we could take over the food forest at Riverton?

Got something to say?
