Abolish It Then

6 Jul

My focus has been elsewhere but I had an opportunity to look at the Finance and Policy agenda and must have missed more than I thought.  Page 113 has the Invercargill City Council revoking the Invercargill Venue and Events Management constitution due to the shareholding increasing from 50% to 100% and replacing it with an ICC stock standard one.

When did Stadium Southland pull out?

Wasn’t the purpose of the council controlled organisation to ensure the right venue was used for the right event?  Now it is only about the Civic Theatre.  It’s objectives have changed so shouldn’t it be wound up?  Having it remain as a CCO places more costs on the CCO and less transparency for the public.

Any organisation who submits a Statement Of Intent with the exact same figure for the Revenue and Expenditure ($559,500) deserves to be wound up.

Got something to say?
