One Down, One To Go

25 Jun

Mitchell has one more meeting in her throne then ‘it’s all over Rover’.  As per their resolution last meeting, Standing Orders were dropped so they could freely discuss  remuneration.  It’s all about them obviously.  Mitchell doesn’t drop Standing Orders to discuss things that benefit us.  Seemingly Mitchell reckons $8k is not enough for a chairperson and it has halved since she started (seems valid…she doesn’t even do half the job!).  Counter that with a comment from a retiring Wellington councillor.

”I have always seen my political work as a community contribution, not a career,”

We have career seat warmers.  So remember everyone – because your Board won’t use the rate payer funded newsletter to tell you – nominations open for the next elections July 19.

UPDATE:  Here is the document that they were discussing.  $4000 p.a. for members and double that for the chair.

That is the current legislation. They had a discussion paper from the Remuneration Authority which presented a new structure which would have the chair being paid less. I’ll see if I can find an electronic version.

Do we even need a board for Bluff, I mean they do nothing anyway. Save some money and ditch the lot!

I reckon they’ve been doing it ass about face for so long that they have forgotten they represent Bluff residents not ICC. I am giving it one more election (and Mitchell out of it)and see how it goes. I have always believed Bluff should have a board under the requirements of the LEA but … We’ll see I suppose, Representation Review in 2015 I believe…

You have a lot to say for yourself Kylie so perhaps you should stand!

My partner is a board member so we couldn’t both be. Who would look after the kids and we’d need a referee!
He plans to run again this election.

Got something to say?
