No-One Knows (Except NZ History)

29 Apr

I haven’t been in the mood for reading the paper (full moon on 25th).  My Google Alert offered up this though

Memorial details being collected | Otago Daily Times Online News : Otago, South Island, New Zealand & International News.

I had seen it on the ICC website but was otherwise occupied and didn’t mention it.  I have now re read it and think we are so lucky to have Venture Southland!

No-one knows for sure how many war monuments and memorials there are in Southland, but Venture Southland is hoping to change that by compiling an inventory.

Aren’t we lucky our $1.9 million is contributing to such a worthy project?

”There’s no one list of all war memorials. We just want to create this list to say where they are.”

But what is this project trying to achieve?

Looks like an interesting book but I don’t think it’s about memorials. As per usual Venture Southland seem to be doing something that is already being down and try to use it as a media release (to justify their existence). The work is already being done and all that’s needed is for people to know that, Facebook could be very handy. I can’t see it as a job ‘worthy’ of a joint committee or CCO.

Got something to say?
